UTS Bachelor of Arts in International Studies 25th Anniversary

Bernadette Cajigal, BA IS/ B Biotechnology, ICS Canada (Quebec)

My ICS year remains the best year of my life and I have many fond memories and friendships that endure to this day. It was so enriching in many ways beyond the academic and linguistic skills I acquired. It is impossible to pinpoint one specific difference the BAIS has made in my life, such are the benefits, but something unique to my experience was my return to my host country for a couple of years after graduating. In that time, I acted as an unofficial mentor to later cohorts on their ICS, helping them to settle in and experience quintessential Quebec City.

Bernadette went to Universite Laval in 2009 and subsequently graduated with a B Biotechnology/BA International Studies degree.  After graduation, she returned to Quebec City, where she lived for a year or two, and welcomed new cohorts of In Country Studies students.  She recently completed her Master of Creative Music Therapy and is now working as a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) in Sydney.

The ICS is an experience like no other, which needs to be lived to be understood. Happily, as the licence plates in the province of Quebec read, je me souviens.
